Finding Firmware From Model Number

The easiest way to identify the iPad is by its "A" model number, written on the back of the device.

To find it, follow these steps:

1. If you have a case on your iPad, take it off.
2. Turn the tablet over so that the screen is face-down and the Apple Logo is visible.
3. Look at the bottom of the tablet, just above the charging connector for the word "Model" followed by a number.
4. Enter that number in the form below.

1. If you have a case on your iPod touch, take it off.
2. Turn the iPod over so that the screen is face-down and the Apple Logo is visible.
3. Look at the bottom of the iPod, just above the charging connector for the word "Model" followed by a number.
4. Enter that number in the form below.

From the Apple TV Home screen, choose Settings → General → About and check the Model.
