New API from Apple to Reduce Application Fraud in iOS 14: 'App Attest'

Apple has developed a new API to be used in iOS 14. This API, called App Attest, will improve application security in the ecosystem a bit more with iOS 14. Apple states that with this API, developers can verify their applications as a whole.

Apple released an iOS framework called DeviceCheck with iOS 11. DeviceCheck is still actively using it as a tool to protect apps from fraudsters. Apple will roll out a new DeviceCheck API in iOS 14 to increase the security of apps. This API called "App Attest" will further improve the security level in the iOS ecosystem.

Applications in stores such as the App Store or Google Play Store are already often subjected to various security tests. However, malicious masses can make use of these applications for malicious purposes by changing the applications in the stores. Here, Apple's new API was created to prevent this. Apple aims to reduce improper use of developer servers with the API called App Attest.

According to the statements made by Apple, malicious people can create tricks for games by making changes on applications or remove ads in an application. Here is the App Attest API, developed against it. Developers will be able to verify and protect the integrity of their applications with this API. Security keys to be created with the API will provide significant advantages for developers.

Apple states in its explanations on the subject that no application fraud can be completely prevented. Also, this API does not work on devices that have already been processed. However, Apple has made such an API available to help developers. Apple states that the new API will be available with iOS 14.
