Apple's latest round of price increases isn't for hardware, but for Apple TV video streaming and, correspondingly, some Apple One tiers.
Announced on Friday, Apple TV's monthly cost is increasing by $2 to $14.99 per month. This raises the annual cost to $119, up from $99.
This affects some Apple One subscriptions as well. While the family plan monthly cost isn't going up, the individual plan is.
Effective at your next billing cycle, if you're an Apple One individual subscriber, you're going to get billed $21.95 instead of $19.95. It does not appear at this time that Apple One Premier is impacted.
In July, Apple hiked Apple Music pricing to $11.99 per month, with the family plan climbing to $19.99 per month.
Then, the Apple One family and Premier tiers increased in cost to $27.95 and $39.95, respectively.
Video streaming competitors are in the ballpark. Disney+ with Hulu costs $19.99 per month or $189.99 per year for an ad-free experience. Netflix costs $19.99 per month for HD, and $26.99 per month for 4K with HDR and Dolby Atmos for four devices.
Both Netflix and Disney+ have more content than Apple TV does.
