Identify your Apple device

Every Apple device has a model number that starts with A followed by four digits. Enter it below to find your exact model and its firmware downloads.

Where to find the model number

Open Settings → General → About and look at Model Number. Tap it once to switch from the part number (for example MQ8L2TU/A) to the model number (A1905). On iPhone 8 and earlier it is also printed on the back of the device.

Open Settings → General → About and read the Model Number row, or look at the small print on the back of the iPad next to the CE and FCC marks.

Click the Apple menu → About This Mac. The model identifier (for example MacBookPro18,3) is shown under More Info → System Report → Hardware. Macs use identifiers rather than A-numbers.

Open the Watch app on your iPhone → General → About, or read the engraving on the back of the watch case.

Open Settings → General → About on the Apple TV, or read the label on the underside of the box.
