Apple confirmed Wednesday that Siri AI will remain in beta when the OS 27 versions reach the public on September 14, with the long-delayed assistant subject to use caps and fees, plus language and regional restrictions.
The mobile releases cover iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, while macOS 27 Golden Gate shares the same release date. watchOS 27 and visionOS 27 will also arrive September 14 with Siri AI on supported devices.
Apple has released the first release candidates for its new operating systems. Siri AI will retain its separate beta designation after those operating systems leave testing.
The new assistant will initially work only in English. Support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish is scheduled to follow in October 2026.
Siri AI won't initially be available in China mainland. European Union access will vary by platform, with Apple withholding the assistant from iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch while allowing it on Mac and Apple Vision Pro.
Siri AI launches with usage limits
Certain Apple Intelligence features that rely on server-side models will have daily usage limits. Apple specifically lists Siri AI, intelligent photo editing, Image Playground, and Apple Foundation 3 cloud models used through Shortcuts.
The limits may vary by feature, request complexity, system demand, system policies, and other factors. Apple's release details say expanded access will be available for a fee in the future, but pricing and launch timing remain unknown.
Siri AI won't be available to users under 13, regardless of whether their hardware otherwise supports it.
Siri AI in actionAccess may not be immediate for every eligible user. Code discovered in August pointed to a possible launch waitlist that could regulate demand according to Apple's available server capacity.
The code included messages designed to give users an estimated wait and update that estimate as demand changed. Apple hasn't confirmed whether it will use the waitlist when the OS 27 versions launch.
Apple's delayed Siri overhaul arrives
Apple says Siri AI can hold natural conversations, answer open-ended questions, and retrieve personal information stored across supported apps. The assistant is designed to find details in emails, notes, messages, and photos without requiring users to remember where the information appeared.
It can also take actions in apps such as Messages, Music, and Reminders based on the user's request and onscreen activity. A dedicated Siri app stores conversations and lets users continue them across supported Apple devices.
Other advertised capabilities include visual searches through the Camera app, online information retrieval, customizable voices, and writing tools that can draft or revise text. Some of those features rely on server processing and may be subject to Apple's undisclosed limits.
Apple first announced Siri features involving personal context and cross-app actions as part of Apple Intelligence in 2024. The company later acknowledged that development was taking longer than expected and postponed the more personalized assistant until 2026.
The September release brings Siri AI to the public after months of developer testing. Its beta label and launch restrictions show that the service remains unfinished.
