Short answer (October 7, 2026): there is no public jailbreak for iOS 27, iOS 26 or iOS 17–18 on any iPhone from the XS/XR onward. Jailbreaks exist for iOS 15 and 16 on supported devices, and for older iPhones and iPads that use the A11 chip or earlier (the hardware “checkm8” bug).

Common questions
Jailbreak for iOS 18.7.9 or 18.7.10 on iPhone XR / XS?
No. The iPhone XS, XS Max and XR (A12) top out at iOS 18.7.10, and there is no public kernel exploit for iOS 17 or 18 on A12 or later. If your XR is still on iOS 16.6.1 or lower, Dopamine works — but you cannot downgrade to it, because those versions are no longer signed.
Jailbreak for iOS 26.6.2 or iOS 27?
No public jailbreak exists for iOS 26 or iOS 27 on any device. Treat any site offering one as a scam.
iPad Air 2 jailbreak on iPadOS 15.8.8
The iPad Air 2 (A8X) is vulnerable to checkm8, so palera1n is the tool to use on iPadOS 15. It needs a Mac or Linux computer. Recent point releases such as 15.8.8 sometimes need an updated palera1n build, so check its release notes first.
iOS 12.5.7 / 12.5.8 jailbreak (iPhone 5s, 6)
These A7/A8 devices are checkm8-vulnerable. checkra1n (Mac/Linux) has long supported iOS 12, and unc0ver and Chimera support iOS 12 on-device. iOS 12.5.8 came out after those tools’ last major updates, so support can lag — check the tool’s compatibility notes.
iPadOS 17 / 18 on older iPads
Some A10 and A10X iPads (iPad 6th and 7th generation, iPad Pro 10.5 and 12.9-inch 2nd generation) run iPadOS 17 or 18 and are checkm8-vulnerable. Check palera1n’s site for the iPadOS versions it currently supports.
How to spot a fake jailbreak
- Real jailbreaks are free and almost always open source.
- They never ask you to install a configuration profile, complete a “verification” survey or download another app from the App Store.
- No real jailbreak works from inside Safari on iOS 27.
Before you jailbreak, save a copy of the current signed IPSW for your device from our signing status page so you can restore if something goes wrong.
