The Latest iOS Version for Every Older iPhone and iPad (October 2026)

Every year Apple drops a few devices from the newest iOS. That doesn’t mean they stop getting updates right away: Apple keeps publishing small security releases for older software lines — iOS 12.5.x, 15.8.x, 16.7.x, iPadOS 17.7.x, iOS 18.7.x and more. This list is built from Apple’s firmware catalogue, so it always shows the real latest version for each device.

Devices not listed here can run iOS / iPadOS 27 — see iOS 27 compatible devices.

Should I install these updates?

Yes. These releases usually patch actively exploited security holes. On the device go to Settings → General → Software Update, or download the signed IPSW from the links above and follow our restore guide.

Looking to jailbreak an older device? Check the jailbreak status table first — installing the newest update can remove the option.
